GT webMarque work

As a senior manager and consultant I:

  • take decisions on strategic issues affecting GT webMarque
  • manage clients and negotiate contracts
  • define requirements, pitch and initiate projects
  • plan projects (usually iterative) within a PRINCE2 framework
  • use project planning and tracking tools (e.g. Microsoft Project)
  • translate business requirements into technical specifications
  • manage work allocation and delegation from the pool of current projects
  • oversee implementation of development iterations

As a developer I specialise in user interface design and:

  • contribute to client/server architectural design decisions
  • design how a user will interact with an application or website
  • build user interface components using Javascript, DHTML, CSS
  • design how the server and browser will communicate (XML, HTTP, Java)
  • design relational databases and run SQL queries
  • write and carry out test processes
  • build PHP/PERL server-side components

As we are a small company, I also carry out some functions more often associated with a network
administrator e.g. server maintenance, email management, desktop application support.
