Setting up a secure connection
It's possible to set up a secure connection which makes it harder for your password to be found. This step is optional but is particularly important if you regularly use your laptop on a public connection, in an internet cafe for example.
These settings may also be helpful if you have problems when you try and send mail, for example if you get the message 'Relay Denied'.
| 1. From the Tools menu choose Accounts
2. Click the account you want to edit to highlight it, then click Properties
3. In the Servers tab, click 'My server requires authentication'.
Click the Settings button and check that the 'use same settings as my incoming mailserver' is selected
4. In the Advanced tab check that both the Outgoing mail and incoming mail have the 'This server requires a secure connection (SSL)' option ticked.
Enter the number 465 into the box next to Outgoing mail.
Don't change the number in the box next to Incoming mail
| 5. Click OK
