Thunderbird Setup

To set up an account using Thunderbird, follow these steps

  1. Run Thunderbird
  2. Click the Tools menu and select Account Settings...
  3. Click the Add Account button
  4. Follow the wizard. You'll need the following information:
    • Type of incoming server: POP (use IMAP only if you've purchased an imap account. If unsure, use POP)
    • Incoming server: gtwm.co.uk
    • Outgoing Server Name (if it asks you): gtwm.co.uk
  5. Set secure sending:
    1. Under 'Tools' -> 'Accounts', click Outgoing Server (SMTP)
    2. Click the Edit button
    3. Change the port to 26
    4. Tick 'username and password' and enter your username
    5. Select the secure connection option 'TLS'
  6. Set secure receiving:
    1. Under 'Tools' -> 'Accounts', click Server Settings
    2. In 'Security Settings', select the TLS option
    3. Don't tick 'Use secure authentication'
